A membrane switch is a thin, flexible electronic switch that controls circuit on/off functions. Different from traditional mechanical switches with movable parts, it adopts printed circuit technology to deliver a slim, space-saving, and cost-effective solution.

Featuring a fully sealed structure, membrane switches are waterproof, dustproof, and easy to clean. Without mechanical moving components, they offer longer service life and more stable performance. Customizable in thickness and key layout, they are widely used in home appliances, gas pump keypads, and medical devices. The switch activates when upper and lower printed circuit layers are pressed to close the open circuit.

Membrane Switch Construction

Membrane switches are laminated assemblies of flexible polyester and polycarbonate film layers. Structurally flexible to fit diverse application needs, they support both basic and high-end customized configurations.

Standard structures include graphic overlays, adhesive layers, circuit layers, spacer layers, and reinforced tail structures. Customizable functional layers such as backlight layers, metal dome tactile layers, and shielding layers can be added for advanced scenarios.

Circuits are screen-printed with silver or carbon conductive ink. Surface graphics support screen and digital printing. Equipped with metal domes and LED backlights, the switches provide precise tactile feedback and uniform lighting.
